DBMS

Assalammualaikum and good morning everyone...
i hope today is more better than yesterday...=)
today, i want to share about DBMS environment..

do you know what DBMS is..?
DBMS stands for Database Management System
it is a software system that enables users to define, create, maintain, and control access to the database..

there are 5 components of DBMS Environment
which is

Hardware
can range from a PC to a network of computers
~~
Software
operating system, network software and also the application programs
~~
Data
used by the organization and a description of this data called the schema
~~
Procedures
instructions and rules that should be applied to the design and use of the database and DBMS
~~
People
all users of the database system
system and database administrators, database designers, system analysts and programmers and end users

now, i gonna tell you about...

the functions of DBMS

data storage management
- creates and manages complex structures required for data storage
- stores database in multiple physical data files
~~
data transformation and presentation
- transforms data entered to conform to required data structures
- transforms physically retrieved data to conform to user's logical expectations
~~
security management
creates a security system that enforces user security and data privacy
~~
multiuser access control
uses sophisticated algorithms to ensure concurrent access does not affect integrity
~~
backup and recovery management
provides backup and data recovery to ensure data safety and integrity

and...

the advantages of DBMS

- improved data sharing
- improved data security
- better data integration
- minimized data inconsistency
- improved data accessibility and responsiveness
- improved decision making
- increased end-user productivity
- control of data redundancy
- more information from the same amount of data
- enforcement of standards
- economy of scale
- balance conflicting requirements
- increased productivity
- improved maintenance through data independence
- increased concurrency
- improved backup and recovery services

but...

 it also had some
disadvantages of DBMS
such as..

- complexity
- size
- cost of DBMS
- additional hardware costs
- cost of conversion
- performance
- higher impact of a failure

i get this information for

Thank You...(^_^)
